How dark can you tint in Utah?
The percentage is how much light the window lets through: 5% is the darkest film we fit, 70% is nearly clear. Utah sets a limit for the windshield and the front side windows; the rest of the car can go as dark as you like.
- Windshield70% or lighterClear film that lets in at least 70% of light. A darker strip may run along the top, no lower than 4 inches or the AS-1 line.
- Front side windows35% or lighterThey must let in at least 35% of light. An officer’s meter allows a 5% margin.
- Rear side windowsAny darknessAny shade is allowed on the windows behind the driver.
- Back windowAny darknessAny shade is allowed, with mirrors on both sides of the car.

No mirror look
Utah doesn’t allow film with a metallic or mirrored look on any window. Union Carbon IR and Ceramic IR have no metal in them.

No. Film with a metallic or mirrored look isn’t allowed on any window. The Union films we fit have no metal in them.
